Today’s process manufacturers face challenges in managing the product cycle, including formulas, recipes, batch production, and lot control.
These challenges are especially difficult to face when a company is still using legacy software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. This is a problem because the data stored in those programs exists solely in an isolated file on a lone individual’s desktop or, if an office is a little more advanced, on an office-wide network. The lack of transparency here means that not everyone is knowledgeable about important information and that the information that people do have may be incomplete or inaccurate.
