The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same

Find me on:

At Oates & Company, we are proud to work with Sage products, whether that means their enterprise resource planning systems, their customer relationship management solutions, their cloud services, their business intelligence modules, or any combination of them.

Sage has been going through some changes, though, and we thought it might be a good idea to clarify some of the changes you’re seeing so it makes a little more sense when we say “Sage 100 ERP (formerly Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200).”

As of 2011, The Sage Group has been providing top-of-the-line business management software and other services to small and mid-sized businesses for 30 years. Their commitment to their customers and the quality of their products and services has made The Sage Group a recognized global leader in business solutions. While they are headquartered in England, they have offices and customers – 6 million of them! – worldwide. Their profits are in the multi-billion dollar range and they are one of the top 3 suppliers of enterprise resource planning systems.

The Sage Group’s goal has always been to make your business life easier. Now, to extend that commitment, they have a new website, new products, new services, and new features. The most obvious difference, of course, are the name changes; The Sage Group is hoping to make it easier for you to determine which Sage products are most appropriate for you and which products best complement the Sage products you may already be using.

The Sage Group’s new approach to naming includes a numbering system. Each product is identified with a number, with higher numbers indicating increasing levels of capabilities and complexity.

The product families include:

  • Sage Oneunder_construction_sign_(shrunk)
  • Sage 50
  • Sage 100
  • Sage 300
  • Sage 500

They are changing more than just product names, however. Each product family will offer integration with other Sage business solutions – customer relationship management, fixed assets, human resources management systems, payroll, etc. Online payment processing, mobile access, and data security will be offered through Sage’s Connected Services; other product support will come from Sage Business Care and the Sage Advisor technology.

Their new website, NA.Sage.com, debuted in May 2012. On it, they combined the resources from their former sites so that you can find the answer to any question you might have about Sage products and services in North America. The new product names are reflected on the website, but the old products names are there as well, to act as a guide.

Not everything is changing, however. Sage says that your current products will continue to work just as they always have and that any existing support policies that you may have will remain in effect. Prices and subscription service changes are not affected by a product’s change in name, and there are no changes to the manner in which you acquire your Sage software.

What The Sage Group would like to stress, however, is this:

“Our products are still the same software that you use and trust today, from the easy-to-use, easy-to-implement small business accounting systems to our most complex configurable offerings. For our customers, the efficiencies gained from uniting under the Sage name will result in future product innovations and streamlined delivery of support and services for your business.”
